Reliability and Response

We are offering full coverage nationwide. Since our head office is located in Maraval, we are able to respond readily to any of our Port of Spain locations within a matter of minutes. Regional Managers have been assigned to specific boroughs (central, south, east, west) to ensure rapid response to clients. All Managers are in contact with each other via trunked W.T radio phones and company cell phones. They are on-call 24 hours, 7 days a week for emergency response. All our patrol vehicles have our company’s logo and emergency contact information.
Each vehicle is equipped with the following:

armed security officer

Our response officers and senior members of management have a Firearm User Employees Certificate (F.U.E.C) which allows them to carry service pistols when on duty.

Uniform and Equipment

The uniforms of all Shield Security officers bear the Shield logos and have a company picture ID that identifies them as a security officer.

All locations have flash lights and wireless trunked radio equipment which connects the officer on location, our headquarters, the patrol vehicle and all members of the management team. This is a secure, trunked wireless, VHF system provided by Illuminat Trinidad and Tobago Limited. All officers also have cellular phones, which are accessible from Shield headquarters as a backup. We have found this to be a discretionary necessity.
Our uniform includes:

security officer
  • Dark green shirts
  • Black pants
  • A cap identifying them as a security officer
  • Ties
  • Black boots
  • Black belt
  • Fixed or expanding baton
  • Baton holder
  • Rain gear when necessary

Training

Shield Security provides thorough and adequate training to all their guards. Our training and compliance officer, Mr. Ronald Brathwaite, has a wealth of knowledge and experience in training officers. Our training schedule includes public relations, communication skills with clients and visitors, confrontation management, radio communications and incident reporting. Our officers are familiar with the laws of Trinidad and Tobago, and our qualified officers have the additional advantage of powers of arrest.

We have an arrangement with H.H.S.L Safety Systems Limited to provide training in first aid, fire fighting techniques and defensive driving to our officers. Our officers have also been specially trained for situations where they need to exercise self-defence and baton techniques such as emergency evacuations, medical emergencies and proper handling of power outages and bomb threats. We also benefit from the services of Mr. J. Goodridge who specialises in complete firearm and tactical training with international certification.
